Monday we celebrate our Independence Day. Many will be enjoying bar-b-que, swimming, games, carnivals, and much more. Of course, the main attraction for celebrating our Independence is the end the night with a big display of fireworks.
I love the colors, the smell, the excitement. Of course, it’s one of my favorite holidays so I get into it. Many others have just as much excitement and enjoyment as I do.
However, there are some who have problems with this day. It’s not their fault either. These people are the very ones who have defended our nation in order for us to be able to celebrate this day.
When planning your celebration please take into consideration the veterans who may live near you. If you know loud sounds, like fireworks, causes them emotional distress consider them. I’m not saying you should not shoot fireworks. However, you could openly thank them for their service and tell them that you will be shooting fireworks that day or the hours you’ll be shooting.
We owe these veterans for our freedom. As we celebrate, we should remember their needs. Some come home with visible wounds. Some come home with wounds we will never understand.
